MyBrainSc scholarship is open to all Malaysian citizens who are or will be pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree and Postgraduate Typical full-time in the pure sciences such as Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics at the Public University (UA). This program is one of the agenda of the Ministry of Higher Education to achieve the goals of the National Higher Education Strategic Plan (PSPTN) and produce young scientists with a big heart and a bold challenge to produce world-class scholars and finally be recognized as a Nobel Laureate .

Application requirements are based on the following 3 categories:

1) Ph.D
The candidate is a citizen of Malaysia;
Not more than 35 years on the date of application;
Candidate has obtained excellent results in the Bachelor’s degree in pure science that is at least a CGPA of 3.65 and above or First Class;
Candidates do not have any commitments of any sponsor during the earlier stages of study or funders willing to renounce the contract if offered a scholarship;
Candidates who are currently serving in any public or private sector and are ready to resign if the offer scholarships;
Candidates who are studying at the undergraduate level for a full investigation will be given priority; and
Candidates currently pursuing a Ph.D or have finished their studies in pure science either within the country or in the universities through the portal application.

2) Masters
The candidate is a citizen of Malaysia;
Not more than 28 years on the date of application;
Candidate has obtained excellent results in the Bachelor’s degree in pure science that is at least a CGPA of 3.65 and above or First Class;
Candidates do not have any commitments of any sponsor during the earlier stages of study or funders willing to renounce the contract if offered a scholarship;
Candidates who are currently serving in any public or private sector and are ready to resign if the offer scholarships;
Mode of study must be in research mode and full-time; and
Candidates currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or have finished their studies in pure science either within the country or in the universities listed by the portal application.

3) Bachelor’s degree
The candidate is a citizen of Malaysia;
Not more than 21 years on the date of application;
Candidates obtaining a minimum CGPA of 3.6 and above in rank Science Foundation / Matriculation / STPM / Diploma, 1800/2400 Scale for all tests in the SAT, 40/45 in the IB and A Level 4A;
Students who are in their final semester on all institutions of higher learning; and
Students have not received receive scholarships / sponsorship / agreement of any sponsors.

MyMaster

MyMaster is a program under the MyBrain15 Program, it’s aim is to finance students who’re pursuing their studies at Masters level. MyMaster’s objective is to stimulate and encourage high caliber graduates to continue their studies at a higher level in specific areas which is in line with the national development agenda. The program is designed to build and maintain the human capital and assist in transforming Malaysia to become a high income nation.

MyPhD

MyPhD is one of the MyBrain15 Program which provides funding for students at the doctorate level to achieve the target of 60,000 PhD holders among Malaysians by 2023. The objective of this program is to increase the number of local professional personnels who are knowledgeable and highly skilled based on innovation and creativity that can generate economic growth and local industry.

This program is an incentive given by the Government in its efforts to improve the knowledge and skillset of community members in line with the economic development goals of the country under the New Economic Model (NEM).

 

Criteria

Applicant must meet all the below requirements

MyMaster:

  • Must be a Malaysian citizen
  • Not above 35 on 1 January 2018

Applicant must be:

  • Those who are not working and fixed income; or
  • Private sector workers; or
  • Lecturer Institution; or
  • The staff of government / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary); or
  • Pensioners government / statutory bodies / public
  • Applicants who work abroad are not eligible to apply.
  • The applicant does not have a Master’s degree or equivalent when applying MyMaster. The applicant must meet academic eligibility requirements as follows:
    • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent recognized by the Government with a CGPA of 2.75 – 4.00 or equivalent; or
    • A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent recognized by the Government with a CGPA of 2.50 – 2.74 or equivalent work experience in a related field at least 3 years
    • Aged at least 30 years old and get the Certificate of Accreditation of Prior Experiantial Learning (APEL) for admission to the Master’s degree program (step 7, the Malaysian Qualifications Framework) from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA).
    • Meet the conditions for entrance and has received an unconditional offer letter from the university or have started their studies at university. Studies must be at Masters level or equivalent professional certificate with a degree only.

The applicant does not accept funding from any other party to pursue the same, unless authorized only as follows:

  • The applicant category of the public who are not working and not on a fixed income can receive allowances graduate research assistant or student loans from other sponsors, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.
  • Applicant category private staff and lecturers of Institution can receive student loans from other sponsors or additional funding from their employers, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.
  • Applicant category government employees / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary) and retired government / statutory bodies / public can receive student loans from other sponsors, provided it is not a variable loan or full scholarships.

Mode of study to be followed by the applicant are as follows:

  • The applicant category of the public who do not work and irregular income must be enrolled full-time only.

  • The staff of government / statutory bodies / universities (contract / part-time / temporary); or
  • Pensioners government / statutory bodies / public

Applicants who work abroad are not eligible to apply.

The applicant does not have a Doctoral Degree or equivalent when applying MyPhD. The applicant must meet academic eligibility requirements as follows:

  • Having a Master’s degree or equivalent recognized by the Government with a CGPA of 3:00 to 4:00 or equivalent; or
  • Master’s degree students who upgraded to a Doctorate by the university Senate.
  • Meet the conditions for entrance and has received an unconditional offer letter from the university or have started their studies at university. Studies must be at the doctorate level or equivalent professional certificate with a Doctorate only.

The applicant does not accept funding from any other party to pursue the same, unless authorized only as follows:

SYARAT-SYARAT PERMOHONAN

(a) Syarat Asas

(i) Warganegara Malaysia.

(ii) Umur tidak melebihi 25 tahun pada tarikh tutup permohonan.

(b) Syarat Kelayakan Akademi dan Ko-kurikulum

(i) Pelajar lepasan STPM / Asasi / Matrikulasi / Diploma* yang mencapai PNGK 3.50 dan ke atas .

(ii) Permohonan juga dibuka kepada bakal graduan yang sedang dalam pengajian sepenuh masa Ijazah Sarjana Muda di IPT tempatan yang (jika) berjaya mencapai minimum PNGK 3.50 dan tahun pengajiannya masih berbaki sekurang-kurangnya 2 tahun pengajian.

(iii) Kepujian tinggi dalam Bahasa Malaysia dan Bahasa Inggeris di peringkat SPM.

How to apply for OCBC Scholarship 2018

To apply for the scholarship, applicants must:

  • Prepare an essay of 800 words on the topic below:


“Have you been in leadership positions in school/university? If yes, what are the biggest challenges you have faced and what have you learned from it?”

How to apply for Kuok Foundation Undergraduate Awards 2018

Submit ONE application form only. Applicants will be considered for all category of awards accordingly.

Applicants MUST perform Step 1 & Step 2 as stated below:

Step 1: Submission of Online Application Forms

Apply & submite online at apply.kuokfoundation.org.

Closing date: 30 March 2018.

Step 2: Submission of Printed Application Forms

After applicants have submitted their application forms online, applicants MUST ALSO courier / send by Pos Laju or by hand the PRINTED COPY IF THE APPLICATION FORMS together with supporting documents to the Foundation’s oofice.
